Natural Lip Balm Recipe
Makes around 60 x tubes or 30 x 10ml tins or 20 x 15ml tins
50g Organic Yellow Beeswax
80g of good quality, unrefined Shea Butter
30g of good quality, unrefined Cocoa Butter
150g of Sweet Almond / Sunflower Oil
What to do:
- You can either melt your lip balm ingredients in a bowl over a pan of simmering water, or in a bowl in the microwave. If transferring to pots or tins, use a glass jug to melt the ingredients in so you can pour straight out without the need for pipettes.
- If adding flavour, make sure you stir well. If using our Organic Aromas, always whisk them thoroughly.
- Don't overheat your lip balm mixture, and wait for it to cool down a bit before transferring it to your containers.
- You can dowse your pipettes in hot water (i.e. suck some in and out of the pipette) before transferring the lip balm liquid to the tubes. Otherwise, your lip balm will set in the pipettes - and what a waste and annoyance that is! Repeat the dowsing after each lip balm has been filled and rinse the water off thoroughly each time.
- The 3ml pipettes are better than the 1ml pipettes. You can transfer more at a time, giving the lip balm less chance to set in the pipettes!
- Wait for your lip balms to cool for a few hours at room temperature before trying them out, or pop them in the fridge. They are always quite soft the first day, but by the second, you will know what texture they really are.
