Organic & Fairtrade Shea Butter (Refined / Unrefined)

Organic & Fairtrade Shea Butter (Refined / Unrefined)

£2.75

Organic & Fairtrade Shea Butter (Refined / Unrefined)

This high quality Shea butter is Fairtrade & Organic and is obtained from the Shea nut tree of West Africa.

You can choose between raw, unrefined Shea butter (nut odour) and the refined, white, odourless version. Both are Fairtrade, Organic and high quality.

The Shea nut trees which produce the butter grow in the wild and have not been sprayed with chemicals.

Shea butter is an emollient. It is extremely therapeutic, helping to heal cracked, aged and damaged skin. Its chemical constituents help to heal bruising and soreness. Shea butter penetrates the skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth.

It has vitamin A, E and is highly compatible with skin. Shea butter has a high content of unsaponifiables and cinnamic esters, which have antimicrobial and moisturizing properties and provide protection from the UV rays of the sun.

Shea butter melts at skin temperatures, making it ideal for lip and body balms as well as soaps, lotions and skin creams.

Fair Trade
Produced in Ghana by a Fairtrade co-operative, the native women gather the nuts, which are then processed without the use of any chemicals, only the traditional method used for centuries in this region of Ghana. The butter is only filtered to remove particulate matter.

Storage
The raw, unrefined shea butter such as this one has an average shelf life of 12 to 24 months without the addition of preservatives. You can store it in the fridge though or add vitamin E to extend its shelf life.
